Entérese en esta nota cuál es la obra que la Alcaldía de Bucaramanga está ejecutando en este emblemático parque del Centro de la ciudad. Su intervención durará aproximadamente seis meses.
Con la puesta en marcha de este proyecto, la Alcaldía de Bucaramanga da inicio a la primera fase del Plan de Revitalización del Espacio público del Centro de Bucaramanga -PREP.
Este es el primer parque que se intervendrá en el marco del ‘Plan Centro, Ciudad Caminable’, con el que le apuesta a rejuvenecer el corazón de Bucaramanga, por medio de la reconfiguración de los espacios públicos para lograr un mayor disfrute y acceso de todos.

Para la transformación del parque Centenario, la Administración Municipal está invirtiendo cerca de $11.000 millones.
Así se recuperarán 10.358 metros cuadrados de espacio público, que se encontraba en deterioro por el tiempo de existencia. Esto implicará una renovación arquitectónica que incorporará nuevas áreas.

En este momento, se avanza en la fase preliminar de demolición de las zonas duras y desmonte del mobiliario.
«Ya iniciamos la repotenciación del parque Centenario. Este parque emblemático para la ciudad y que hace parte de todo ese sueño de ciudad caminable, dirigido por nuestro alcalde Juan Carlos Cárdenas, es una realidad», explicó Iván José Vargas, secretario de Infraestructura de Bucaramanga.

La intervención de este icónico parque le apuesta a la resignificación del valor histórico que tiene para la ciudad, así como a su reivindicación como un lugar seguro y digno para compartir en familia y en comunidad.
Su transformación está encaminada a la consolidación del Distrito Artes y Oficios, garantizando que en este sector se fortalezca el circuito cultural dado su cercanía con el Teatro Santander y el Centro Cultural del Oriente.
Lo que contempla su nuevo diseño es:
- La redefinición de 4.761 metros cuadrados senderos.
- La reconstrucción de los 1.578 metros cuadrados de la plaza central.
- La incorporación de una plazoleta cultural de 1.086 metros cuadrados.
- El acondicionamiento del ágora como punto de encuentro comunal y social, en un área de 848 metros cuadrados.
- La renaturalización de todo el entorno con más de 1.119 metros cuadrados zonas verdes de estancia y jardines.
También se reubicará el CAI y el insigne monumento Aquileo Parra. Así mismo, se tiene contemplada la renovación completa del alumbrado público y mobiliario urbano.
